Clyde pretends to wear glasses and play the violin when he's in front of his parents and fairy godmother.

Clyde is Henry’s friend. He’s rich, because his mother is an award winning author. Clyde knows about magic because he has a fairy godmother. He teaches Henry that "good and evil were just made up so fairy tales could have good plots." Together they always make fun of Archie (Clyde's godbrother), and eventually start a whole war. Unaware of the extent of their misdeeds, this causes Almanzo much confusion in the meantime.
